ファーガソンの黒人射殺事件のニュースで耳にした “indict” “indictment” の意味とは？
今週、アメリカでは大きなニュースがありました。今年8月にミズーリ州セントルイス郊外にあるファーガソン（Ferguson）という町で、非武装の黒人青年が白人警官に射殺された事件に関し、大陪審（grand jury）が今月24日、白人警官の不起訴を決定したのです。
ニュースを見ていると、”indict” “indictment” という単語を何度も耳にしました。下の映像にも登場しています。
Violent protests flared in Ferguson, Missouri, Monday night, after a grand jury declined to indict a white police officer in the shooting of an unarmed black teenager.（0:01）
They determined that no probable cause exists to file any charges against Officer Wilson and return a no true bill on each of the five indictments.（0:44）
“indict”〔発音〕は「起訴する」、”indictment”〔発音〕は名詞形で「起訴」という意味です。”C” は発音しません。
indict: to accuse someone officially of a serious crime
（公的に人を深刻な罪で訴えることなんですね！）
つまり、冒頭のセリフはそれぞれこう語られていたのでした。
