映画『甘い生活』のレビューで目にした “extravaganza” の意味とは？
現在自宅療養中のジェガーさん。楽しみは専ら映画を観ることで、新旧さまざまな映画を観まくってはります。
先日はフェデリコ・フェリーニ監督の代表作の一つ『甘い生活（La Dolce Vita）』（1960）を観るということで、私も今まで観たことがなかったので一緒に観てみました。
その後ジェガーさんに勧められて大映画評論家ロジャー・エバートさんの批評を読んだところ、”extravaganza” という単語が出てきました。

また、よく似た “extravagant” という単語も出てきました。
Fellini stood here at the dividing point between the neorealism of his earlier films (like “La Strada”) and the carnival visuals of his extravagant later ones (“Juliet of the Spirits,” “Amarcord”).
“extravaganza” は名詞で「派手なショー」、”extravagant” は形容詞で「ぜいたくな」という意味です。
extravaganza: a very large and expensive entertainment
（大規模で高額なエンターテインメントという意味なんですね！）
extravagant:
1. spending or costing a lot of money, especially more than is necessary or more than you can afford
2. doing or using something too much or more than is necessary
3. if someone makes extravagant claims, promises etc, they make big claims or promises that are not true or real
4. very impressive because of being very expensive, beautiful etc
つまりレビューにはこう書かれていたのでした！
